Desiree Meurs

Desiree Meurs is a Researcher at the Business Innovation Knowledge Center of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, where she has been working since 2013. She also conducts her PhD research through the Faculty of Psychology at Erasmus University Rotterdam, focusing on soft controls for small and medium enterprises.

Her educational background includes a Master's degree in Sociology with a specialization in Work and Organization from Erasmus University Rotterdam, which she completed cum laude.

Desiree's research interests span across business management and organizational behavior, with primary focus on soft controls in management systems for SMEs. She investigates how these controls can enhance business performance while considering factors like employee demographics, education levels, company size, and developmental stage. Her work bridges academic research with practical business applications, particularly in organizational development and performance improvement in SMEs.

She has contributed to various practice-oriented and international scientific publications throughout her career. Her research methodology combines theoretical frameworks with practical implementation, often involving teachers, students, and entrepreneurs in the research process to ensure real-world applicability.

From 2017 to 2021, she served on the knowledge centers' advisory board (IOK) and previously contributed to the Marketing of Social Business (MOS) community as a lecturer. Her professional mission is to inspire educators, students, and business owners to implement soft controls through her research.
