Derya Akleman is an Instructional Professor and Director of the Master's Program in the Department of Statistics at Texas A&M University, part of the College of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on time series analysis, stochastic processes, risk analysis, artificial intelligence, econometrics, and interdisciplinary topics such as genomics and tourism. She holds a faculty position with over three decades of academic experience, spanning diverse fields from computational art to agricultural economics.
Her work integrates statistical methodologies with practical applications, including causal inference in transportation systems, web-based creative tools for visual storytelling, and economic modeling of agricultural commodities. She has contributed to foundational research in speech recognition, network reliability, and regional tourism development.
Dr. Akleman’s academic career reflects a commitment to both theoretical advancements and real-world problem-solving. She oversees the Master's program curriculum, emphasizing hands-on learning and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her publications bridge statistics with computer science, engineering, and social sciences, highlighting her role as a cross-disciplinary scholar.
