Derrick McIver

Derrick McIver is an Associate Professor of Management at the Haworth College of Business, Western Michigan University, and co-director of the Center for Principled Leadership and Business Strategy. He co-leads the leadership and business strategy major and teaches experiential consulting courses for the program, as well as an innovative MBA course focused on small business acquisition and profitability.

Education: Ph.D. in Management from the University of Texas at San Antonio, MBA from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi, and B.S. from Ferris State University.

His research focuses on business strategy, acquisitions, leadership, and long-term organizational growth. He explores how organizations create value through strategic processes and innovation, with publications in journals like the Academy of Management Review and Strategic Organization. Prior to academia, he worked at a Fortune 500 company and consulted for small businesses.

McIver actively engages with industry and academic conferences, bridging theoretical insights with practical business challenges.
