Dr. Derick G. Brown is a Professor and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Lehigh University’s P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. His research focuses on microbial interactions with surfaces, microbial kinetics in environmental systems, and bioinspired materials. He holds patents on anaerobic digestion stabilization and coal tar characterization in soil.

Research Interests: Dr. Brown investigates microbial adhesion, transport in porous media, and applications in bioremediation and energy recovery. Recent studies include using microbial-induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) for soil stabilization and wind erosion control.
