Dr. Dennis Kim is Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Boston Children's Hospital and R. Cannon Eley, MD Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He received his MD and PhD from Harvard Medical School and completed training at Brigham and Women's Hospital. His research focuses on molecular genetic analysis of host-microbe interactions using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model system.
Research interests include:
- Host-microbe interactions in C. elegans
- Neuroendocrine physiology modulation by microbes
- Innate immunity pathways
- Integrative physiology of infection and stress responses
His recent publications focus on bacterial-viral interactions, neuroendocrine gene expression, and host responses to pathogenic bacteria in C. elegans models. Research demonstrates strong emphasis on molecular mechanisms of infection and behavior.
Dr. Kim maintains clinical responsibilities while leading research on infectious diseases and microbial influences on host physiology. He is available for student supervision and mentorship.
