Dennis Freeman

Dennis Freeman is Henry Ellis Warren Professor and Education Officer for EECS at MIT, leading research on cochlear mechanics and biological hearing systems. His laboratory investigates cellular mechanisms underlying human auditory sensitivity using advanced optical techniques.

Pioneering work includes discovering wave propagation in the tectorial membrane that explains frequency selectivity in hearing. Research combines optical coherence tomography, computer vision, and biophysical modeling to study inner ear function.
