Dr. Denise W. Streeter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance & International Business at the Howard University School of Business, where she returned in 2015 after faculty roles at Penn State and executive leadership at National 4-H Council. She holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Old Dominion University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in DC, MD, and formerly PA.

Her research focuses on financial and accounting social justice, diversity in the CPA profession, corporate and household finance, and financial education. She explores how financial systems impact marginalized communities and has published extensively on the history and challenges of African American accountants.
Her recent publications examine banking responses to credit stimuli in the U.S. and EU, active learning in finance education, and the racial barriers in certified public accounting. These works reflect her interdisciplinary approach, combining finance, history, and pedagogy.

Dr. Streeter has secured over $1 million in grant funding, including support from the CIBER CMCC for the HBCU Global Business Challenge and the Charles Schwab Foundation to demystify the Registered Investment Advisor industry and reduce the U.S. wealth gap. She has advised on curriculum development and outreach initiatives to expand financial literacy and wealth management access. She also leads initiatives such as Wealth Wednesdays to promote financial planning education.
She is actively involved in academic and community engagement, partnering with institutions to advance financial inclusion and educational equity.
