Denise Krane is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of English and Director of the HUB Writing Center at Santa Clara University's College of Arts and Sciences. She holds an M.A. in English Literature (Rhetoric and Composition Pedagogy) from the University of Oregon and dual B.A. degrees in Comparative Literature and Religious Studies from the University of California, Davis.
Her research focuses on argumentation in activism, rhetoric of protest, sustainability in writing, and learner-centered pedagogy. She specializes in first-year composition and writing across disciplines, emphasizing diverse student needs. Prior to SCU, she taught at the University of Oregon and UC Davis Learning Skills Center.
Teaching responsibilities include Composition & Rhetoric I&IIc, Critical Thinking & Writing, and Advanced Writing courses. She actively integrates sustainability themes into her curriculum.
