Denise Benda serves as Professor of Chamber Music at the University of Music Würzburg since her 2012 appointment. Born into a Brazilian musical dynasty in São Paulo, she received foundational training from her father Sebastian Benda before studying with Paul Badura-Skoda at Vienna University of Music, Rudolf Buchbinder at Basel Music Academy, and Murray Perahia at Britten-Pears School.
Her artistic career spans 20 countries with performances at premier venues including Vienna's Musikverein, London's Barbican Centre, and Prague's Palace of Culture. She founded Cyprus' International Berengaria Chamber Music Festival in 2003, directing it for a decade while maintaining active collaborations with artists like Josef Suk and Isabelle Faust across major festivals from La Roque d'Anthéron to Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
Benda's pedagogical impact extends through her decade-long professorship at Vienna's Music and Arts University (MUK) and current Würzburg position, supplemented by masterclasses across six continents. Her students' competition successes—including ARD Munich, Osaka, and Monaco prizes—demonstrate her influential teaching methodology in chamber music specialization.
