Denis Poussart is a Retired Professor at Université Laval's Faculty of Science and Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research focuses on Computer Vision, Advanced Processing Architectures, and VLSI Sensing, with contributions to robotics in forestry and thermal tomography. He holds a PhD from MIT (Electrical Engineering) and a B.A. and B.Sc. from Université Laval.
Professional roles include leadership in the ATREF project (robotics in forestry) and board memberships at CRIM (advanced IT), Canarie Inc. (national optical Internet), and Quebec's Science & Technology Council. He has been honored with the Canadian Academy of Engineering Fellowship (1996), the 1999 Distinguished Service Award in Image Processing, and multiple Summa Awards from Université Laval. His teaching includes courses on engineering design (GEL-21405) and scientific writing (GEL-64324).
Key projects include developing virtual environments for critical interventions and smart sensor architectures. His work integrates interdisciplinary approaches, emphasizing design as central to engineering education.
