Denis Merlet is a Professor at the Université Paris-Saclay, affiliated with the Laboratoire de Résonance Magnétique Nucléaire (LRMN) within the Institut de Chimie Moléculaire et des Matériaux d'Orsay (ICMMO - UMR 8182). His research focuses on advanced NMR methodologies for structural analysis of biomolecules, liquid crystals, and materials. He holds a PhD from Université Paris VII (1998), followed by a postdoc at the University of Southampton (1998-99). He became a Professor in 2008 after serving as Maître de Conférences (1999-2007) and obtaining Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) in 2007.
Educations:
- PhD, Université Paris VII - Denis Diderot, 1998
- Postdoctoral Research, University of Southampton, 1998-1999 (Lavoisier Fellowship)
- Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR), Université Paris Sud XI, 2007
Research Interests:
- Development of high-resolution NMR techniques for complex systems
- Conformational analysis of pharmaceuticals (e.g., NSAIDs) in solution
- Structure-property relationships in liquid crystalline media
- Synthesis and characterization of fluorinated organic compounds
- Methodological advances in NMR spectroscopy (e.g., spatial frequency encoding, pure shift methods)
