Prof. Dr. Denis Gebauer is a Professor at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Leibniz University Hannover, within the Faculty of Natural Sciences. He holds roles on the Executive Board of the Institute and serves as a representative for professors in committees such as the Examination Board for Chemistry (BSc/MSc), Curriculum and Teaching Committee for Biochemistry, and Admissions Board for MSc Biochemistry. His research focuses on mineral nucleation mechanisms, amorphous mineral formation, and biomineralization processes.
Key research interests include the early stages of mineral formation in aqueous systems, particularly calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, and iron oxyhydroxides. His work explores the role of additives, polymers, and environmental factors in controlling crystal growth and phase transitions. He has authored over 113 publications, with recent studies emphasizing non-classical nucleation pathways, amorphous mineral precursors, and applications in materials science.
Publications highlight advancements in understanding ion association dynamics, liquid precursor phases, and the interplay between water environments and mineralization. His research bridges fundamental chemistry with applications in biomaterials, environmental science, and nanotechnology.
