Dena Qaddumi is a Research Fellow in City Design and Social Science at the Department of Sociology, London School of Economics (LSE) since 2022. Her work bridges urban politics, postcolonial studies, and architecture, with focus on the Middle East and North Africa. She holds a transnational research approach shaped by professional experiences in architecture, urban planning, and higher education across Palestine, Qatar, the UK, and the US.
Research interests include postcolonial urbanism, public space dynamics, spatial ethnography, and urban conflicts. Current projects include a monograph on Tunisian urban revolution dynamics and a collaborative open-access project on Palestinian spatial politics. She teaches on LSE’s MSc City Design and Social Science programme, focusing on research methodologies and urban design theories.
Publications span book chapters, peer-reviewed articles, and edited volumes addressing topics like Doha’s neighborhood planning, Tel Aviv-Jaffa’s urban justice struggles, and Tunisian national narrative construction through architecture. Her work often intersects critical urban theory with architectural practice.
Qaddumi coordinates the Palestine: Spaces and Politics initiative, offering critical resources on Palestinian environments. She is part of LSE’s Urban Sociology research cluster and actively engages in debates on gender-based violence in fieldwork contexts.
