Demetris Tillyris

Dr Demetris Tillyris serves as a Reader in Applied Criminology, Forensic Investigation and Sociology at Canterbury Christ Church University, holding key leadership roles as Research Lead in Politics and International Relations, LPSS PhD Lead, and Research Coordinator for Justice, Injustice and Exclusion.

His academic credentials include:

• BA in Economics and Politics (First Class Honours) from the University of Manchester (2006-2009)
• MSc in Management, Organisations, and Governance (High Merit) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2009-2010)
• PhD in Political Theory from the University of Leeds (2011-2014), funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)

Tillyris specializes in Contemporary Social and Political Theory, Public Ethics, and the History of Political Thought, with research emphasizing intersections between political philosophy, criminology, and justice systems. His work critically examines ethical governance frameworks and institutional practices related to social exclusion.

As LPSS PhD Lead, he oversees doctoral training and supervision, building on his own ESRC-funded doctoral research.
