Demetris Charalambous serves as a Senior Research Affiliate at The Cyprus Institute's Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C) and concurrently holds the position of Physicist and Meteorology Officer at the Cyprus Department of Meteorology since 2005. His expertise centers on Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) research and development, operational forecasting, and data infrastructure management.
He completed specialized training at the UK Met Office College, focusing on aviation and public weather forecasting. His responsibilities include maintaining and advancing automatic weather station networks, managing data traffic systems (WIS), and leading NWP operational frameworks. His work bridges academic research with practical meteorological services, emphasizing climate-related technological innovation.
Demetris is actively involved in CARE-C's initiatives, contributing to climate and atmospheric research through technical infrastructure development and predictive modeling advancements.
