Dr. Demetrios Lefas is a Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) Research Fellow at the Whittle Laboratory, University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of Gonville & Caius College. His research focuses on aeroelastic instabilities in jet engines, particularly at the intersection of aerodynamics and mechanical vibrations. Collaborating closely with Rolls-Royce and serving as a Visiting Research Fellow at Imperial College London, his work addresses critical design limitations in transonic compressors to enable ultra-efficient engines for net-zero carbon transitions.
His research interests include:
