Dejan Bezbradica

Prof. Dr. Dejan Bezbradica is a Full Professor at the Department of Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade. He was elected to this position on June 20, 2018, and maintains an active research profile in biochemical engineering and biotechnology.

His core research interests focus on:

• Enzyme immobilization techniques for industrial applications
• Bioprocess optimization and biochemical product purification
• Enzymatic synthesis of bioactive compounds (e.g., prebiotics, flavonoid esters)
• Valorization of agricultural byproducts using biotechnological approaches

Professor Bezbradica has supervised 49 graduate students (6 doctoral, 43 master's) since 2009, with recent projects (2022-2024) exploring:

• Enzyme-assisted extraction of phenolic compounds from fruit waste
• Synthesis and purification of prebiotic oligosaccharides
• Biodegradation of industrial pollutants using immobilized laccases
• Development of fermented soybean products with probiotic properties
