Deepika Bahri is a Professor and Chair of the Department of English at Emory University. She also directs the Interdisciplinary Program in Global and Postcolonial Studies. Her research focuses on critical theory, postcolonial literature, political aesthetics, and the intersections of race, culture, and health. Bahri’s work bridges literary analysis with broader socio-political questions, including the impact of colonialism on contemporary global structures and the role of narratives in healthcare advocacy.
Her major publications include Postcolonial Biology: Psyche and Flesh after Empire (2017) and Native Intelligence: Aesthetics, Politics, and Postcolonial Literature (2003). She has curated academic exhibitions such as Salman Rushdie: A World Mapped by Stories and maintains a digital resource hub for postcolonial studies. Current research explores the relationship between anger, justice, and the good life in public discourse.
