Deepak S. Chauhan

Deepak S. Chauhan is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at Dalhousie University, Faculty of Medicine. His research focuses on advancing photothermal therapy (PTT) and photoimmunotherapy for cancer treatment, with expertise in developing plasmonic nanoparticles and nanotheranostics. He holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (2019) and has extensive postdoctoral experience at Université de Montréal and Dalhousie University.

Research Interests: Photothermal therapy, photoimmunotherapy, drug delivery, immunotherapy for solid tumors, plasmonic nanoparticles, and nanomaterials for biomedical applications. He has pioneered NIR-II window agents and collaborated on T-cell receptor-functionalized photothermal systems to enhance cancer specificity.

Selected Awards: I3V-DMRF Postdoctoral Fellowship (2023-2025), IWK Fellowship (2023-2025), Sara Borrell EU Fellowship (2020-2023), and multiple patents in nanotechnology-based therapies.

Grants & Collaborations: Works with mentors like Prof. Banquy (NIR-II agents) and Dr. Umeshappa (photoimmunotherapy). His future research aims to integrate PTT with immunotherapy for metastatic cancers. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles and holds 20+ patents in biomedical nanotechnology.
