Dr. Declan McGuone is an Associate Professor of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in neuropathology with expertise in diagnosing brain and nervous system diseases. His research focuses on understanding tumor development, traumatic injuries, and genomic mechanisms in neurological disorders to improve clinical outcomes. He completed his medical training at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, followed by an anatomic pathology residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and fellowships in forensic pathology (NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner) and neuropathology (Massachusetts General Hospital).
His clinical roles include autopsy pathology to determine causes of death and anatomic pathology analysis. Key research areas include meningioma genomics, traumatic brain injury therapeutics, and molecular profiling of CNS tumors. Collaborations involve genomic characterization of pituitary adenomas and investigating calcium channel targets in blast-induced injuries.
