Declan McCabe is a Professor of Biology at Saint Michael's College specializing in freshwater ecology, biodiversity, and environmental restoration. He holds a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Vermont, an M.S. in Ecology and Evolution from the University of Pittsburgh, and a B.S. in Biology from St. Joseph’s University.
His research examines aquatic species interactions, biodiversity metrics, and ecosystem restoration, with current projects focused on forest/wetland rehabilitation and mammalian community tracking using trail cameras. McCabe's publications demonstrate consistent focus on ecological education, field methodology, and statistical analysis of biological communities.
McCabe serves as Science Adviser for Vermont EPSCoR, leading a $20M NSF-funded climate adaptation research initiative. He mentors undergraduate researchers and coordinates outreach programs connecting high school students with watershed research.
