Debra Moberg serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Biological Sciences department at North Hennepin Community College, where she dedicates herself to helping students navigate the fascinating complexities of biology through in-person and Zoom office hours.
Her unconventional educational path reflects remarkable resilience:
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Interior Design, Fort Hays State University
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Zoology/Microbiology, Washington State University
- Master of Science (MS) in Biology/Electron Microscopy, Washington State University
Professor Moberg's research expertise spans Biology, Microbiology, Zoology, Electron Microscopy, and Virology—fields she passionately explored before acute glaucoma ended her laboratory career. She now channels this scientific background into teaching, integrating her artistic perspective to make biology accessible while championing her grandparents' core values of hard work, honesty, and educational empowerment.
Her advising philosophy centers on student success through personalized support, drawing from her own journey of overcoming 1980s societal constraints that initially blocked her veterinary aspirations. Office hours are held Tuesdays in SC 126 G (9-10:45am) and SC 125 (12:20-1:30pm), with additional Zoom availability on Wednesdays/Fridays via D2L.
