Deborah Woolf is a Senior Lecturer at the International College of Oriental Medicine, affiliated with Greenwich University, where she teaches third-year students pursuing a BSc in Acupuncture. She also contributes to the Northern College of Acupuncture's online MSc program, specializing in time and seasonal cycles in acupuncture. Her PhD research at University College London (UCL), supervised by Vivienne Lo, examines the guest-host relationship in Chinese Medicine, expected to complete in 2021. Deborah combines clinical practice with academia, having worked as an acupuncturist since 2000 and assisting Dr. Edward Neal since 2012.
Her research focuses on the historical influence of divination, astronomy, and geomancy on Chinese Medicine from the Han to Song dynasties. She emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, integrating classical texts like the Huangdi Neijing Suwen with clinical applications. Professional development includes a 2016 role as an external assessor for Northern College of Acupuncture's re-accreditation.
Deborah holds an MA in China Health and Humanity from UCL (2015) and has conducted independent studies in Chinese language and Sinology as an SOAS associate. Her teaching spans Classical Chinese Medicine, philosophy, and the application of seasonal cycles in therapeutic practices.
