Deborah Slade

Deborah Slade is a registered nurse and Senior Lecturer at the University of Gloucestershire, specialising in nursing education and professional development. With over 30 years of clinical experience in medicine, surgery, gynecology, older-person nursing and critical care, she transitioned into academia in 2014 as a Professional Education Facilitator, teaching subjects such as Moving & Handling, Conflict Resolution, The Care Certificate and mentorship.

She is particularly interested in how simulation, reflective practice and inter-professional learning can enhance patient safety and workforce readiness.

Teaching & Mentoring: Deborah currently teaches across pre- and post-registration nursing programmes, delivers mandatory statutory training to National Health Service (NHS) Trusts, and mentors both students and newly qualified nurses. She coordinates the Care Certificate programme and supports regional initiatives aimed at up-skilling the healthcare workforce.
