Deborah Schulman is a Professor of Biology at Lake Erie College (LEC), affiliated with the School of STREAMS. She holds a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University and a B.S. from SUNY at Buffalo. Her role emphasizes hands-on student mentorship, including grading all student work, overseeing labs, and providing one-on-one advising. She teaches courses such as Introductory Biology, Genetics, and Human Nutrition.
Research & Professional Activities: Dr. Schulman directs the Water Quality Testing Lab (in collaboration with LCGHD) and coordinates the Small World Initiative Research. She also owns and operates BioResearchEditing.com as a science writing editor. Her primary research interests include Cell and Molecular Biology.
Awards & Memberships: She serves as Director of LEC's Honors Program, holds honorary membership in Mortar Board, and is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
Grants & Initiatives: She contributed to securing an Ohio Board of Regents grant for teacher development, providing resources to high-need local schools. She also developed a Human Genetics and Genomics course for LEC's Physician’s Assistant program.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Water Quality Testing Lab and oversees Small World Initiative Research, fostering collaborative scientific projects.
