Deborah Moccetti Bernasconi

Deborah Moccetti Bernasconi is a Swiss family doctor and researcher affiliated with the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). She operates an independent general internal medicine practice in Lugano since 2001 and collaborates with the Institute of Family Medicine (IMF) at USI. Her work emphasizes the doctor-patient relationship and humanistic aspects of healthcare.

Moccetti Bernasconi graduated in Human Medicine from the University of Zürich in 1993, earned her MD in 1994, and holds certifications in Internal Medicine (FMH, 1999) and Psychosomatic & Psychosocial Medicine (FMH, 2005). She has contributed to outpatient care at the Istituto Cardiocentro Ticino for over two decades and serves as vice president for the Ente autonomo Lugano Istituti Sociali, managing nursing homes and nursery schools. She is also a member of SCUDO, the regional home care service.

Actively engaged in medical education, she mentors Swiss medical students in family medicine. Politically, she served on the Lugano City Council and related commissions for 13 years, continuing as a substitute municipal deputy. Her personal interests include sports, reading, and cinema, while balancing family life with her partner Giacomo and children Alessandro and Tito.
