Deborah Marie Dean is a full-time Professor in the Department of English at Brigham Young University, within the College of Humanities. She currently serves as the Department Chair (2023–Present) and has held several prestigious appointments, including the Britsch Professorship and the Humanities Professor of English.
Her academic focus lies in English education, literacy, and grammar instruction, with extensive experience in curriculum development and teacher training. She has contributed significantly to pedagogical leadership and professional service in the field of secondary and post-secondary English education.
Dr. Dean has been recognized with multiple honors for her teaching excellence and leadership, including the Benjamin Cluff Jr. Excellence in Education Award. Her sustained engagement with professional organizations reflects her commitment to the discipline.
