Her research focuses on paleoanthropology, including the evolution of African hominins, paleobiology of Homo erectus, sexual dimorphism in Australopithecus, fossil record analysis, skeletal biology, and pedagogical approaches to teaching evolution.
Her publications predominantly explore paleoanthropology, biological anthropology, and science education. Recent works analyze hominin body mass estimation, ontogenetic development, forensic imaging techniques, and biomechanical adaptations in archaeological populations. She also addresses persistent challenges in evolution education, examining student misconceptions and curriculum design.
Dr. Cunningham has supervised graduate students in paleoanthropology but no specific advising relationships are documented in this text. She maintains an active research profile with collaborations across institutions and contributes to methodological advancements in skeletal analysis.
