Deborah Carlson

Deborah Carlson, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Pediatrics and Surgery Departments at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She holds a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the State University of New York and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Chemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her research focuses on cardiac dysfunction, sepsis, burn injury outcomes, and critical care medicine.

Her recent work includes studies on heart dysfunction during sepsis and improving outcomes after burn injury. She has received awards from the American Burn Association and the International Shock Society for her research contributions. Dr. Carlson is affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics: Critical Care team at UT Southwestern.
