Deborah A. O'Neil is a Professor of Organizational Behavior in the Department of Management at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), where she also serves as Director of the Master of Organization Development (MOD) program and Chair of the Organization Development Education Association. She holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Case Western Reserve University and has held academic positions at BGSU since 2005, progressing from Adjunct Professor to her current full professorship since 2019.
Her research focuses on organization development, leadership effectiveness, and gender equity in careers and leadership. Key areas include career development patterns for women, leadership coaching frameworks, and the role of emotional intelligence in professional success. She has published extensively in journals like Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, Journal of Business Ethics, and Organization Development Review.
Dr. O'Neil's work addresses systemic gender biases in academia and organizations, including studies on faculty service contributions, leadership selection criteria, and pandemic-era organizational resilience. She is an editorial board member for Career Development International and Organization Development Review, emphasizing practical applications of research to enhance workplace equity and development.
Her academic leadership includes program directorship for BGSU's MOD program and advisory roles in healthcare leadership initiatives. She integrates interdisciplinary approaches, such as art-based visualization of organizational processes, to innovate in education and practice.
