Debjyoti Banerjee

Debjyoti Banerjee is Professor of Mechanical Engineering and James J. Cain '51 Faculty Fellow at Texas A&M University. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA (1999), dual M.S. degrees from the University of Mississippi (Engineering Science and Computational Science, 1995), and B.S. from IIT Kharagpur (1992). His research spans thermo-fluidics, micro/nano-technology, nanofluids, phase change materials, energy storage, and computational methods including AI/ML applications in thermal sciences.

Professor Banerjee has received numerous honors including the 2020 Charles W. Crawford Distinguished Award, 2021 College of Engineering Excellence Award for Service, and election as ASME Fellow (2016). He holds 14 US patents and affiliations with multiple research centers including the Engineering-Medicine Program and Gas and Fuels Research Center.

His recent work demonstrates interdisciplinary innovation: 1) Thermal management systems for data centers and electronics, 2) Biomedical applications in respiratory modeling and neural engineering, 3) Sustainable energy technologies like solar-thermal desalination, and 4) Advanced experimental methods using nanotechnology for heat transfer characterization. His research consistently bridges fundamental science with practical applications in energy, healthcare, and computing.
