Dr. Debbie van den Berg is an Assistant Professor at Erasmus MC's Department of Cell Biology. Her research focuses on neurodevelopmental processes and DNA repair mechanisms. Key areas include human brain organoid development, astrocyte biology, transcription regulation, and stem cell dynamics. She has contributed to protocols for generating cortical brain organoids and studies on DNA-protein crosslink repair involving CSB and CRL4 CSA complexes.
Her editorial work highlights transcription and chromatin regulators in neurodevelopmental disorders. Research collaborations span international teams and involve interdisciplinary approaches to molecular biology and neuroscience. Notable contributions include insights into stem cell quiescence maintenance via Id4-Ascl1 interactions and RNA translation analysis in circular/linear transcripts.
Dr. van den Berg has supervised 2 doctoral theses and maintains active research networks in Europe. Her work bridges molecular mechanisms with clinical applications in neurodevelopmental disorders and DNA repair pathways.
