Debbie Z. Harwell

Debbie Z. Harwell is an Instructional Assistant Professor of History at the University of Houston, where she serves as managing editor of Houston History magazine. Her research focuses on Houston history, civil rights, and women's activism.

She teaches courses on Houston history, oral history methods, and magazine writing. Awards include the Julia Cherry Spruill Prize for southern women's history and multiple teaching excellence awards.
