Debbie Russell

Dr. Debbie Russell is a Senior Research Fellow at the Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU) in the School of Biology at the University of St Andrews. Her research focuses on the interactions between marine mammals (seals and seabirds) and their changing environments, particularly in contexts involving human activities like renewable energy development and climate change. She investigates how species balance ecological needs with anthropogenic pressures, such as noise pollution from offshore constructions and habitat fragmentation caused by marine infrastructure.
