Dean Croshaw is a Professor and Program Coordinator in the Department of Biological Sciences at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). He holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the Savannah River Ecology Lab and University of New Orleans, an M.S. in Zoology from the University of Oklahoma, and a B.A. in Biology from Earlham College. His research focuses on evolutionary genetics and behavioral ecology, particularly in amphibians, reptiles, and Drosophila fruit flies. Key areas include the fitness consequences of mating behavior variation, temporal changes in natural populations, and gene expression differences post-mating.
Croshaw teaches undergraduate courses such as General Genetics, Behavioral Ecology, Molecular Methods, and General Biology. He has been a full-time educator for over 13 years, emphasizing molecular methodologies to study ecological and evolutionary processes in animal reproduction. His work bridges theoretical and applied aspects of evolutionary biology, contributing to both academic scholarship and practical ecological understanding.
