Dea Siggaard Stenbæk is an Associate Professor at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Her office is located at Øster Farimagsgade 2A, Copenhagen K, with office hours on Mondays 12:00-13:00.
Her research centers on pharmacological manipulations of the serotonin (5-HT) system, with primary focus on:
- Neuropsychopharmacological effects of psilocybin (5-HT2AR agonist) for neuropsychiatric disorders
- Role of extra-pharmacological factors (music, therapeutic setting) in psychedelic therapy
- PET imaging studies of 5-HT receptors (5-HT2AR, 5-HT4R, 5-HTT, 5-HT1BR) in neurocognition
- Depression biomarkers and cardiac arrest-related mental health outcomes
Recent publications (2025) reveal strong trends in psilocybin mechanism research (cerebral blood flow, receptor binding), depression treatment biomarkers (hippocampal volume, 5-HT4 receptor changes), and cardiac arrest psychological sequelae (REVIVAL cohort studies on trauma, growth, and cognitive symptoms). Her work integrates molecular neuroscience with clinical psychology, emphasizing translational applications.
She actively trains students and clinicians in psychedelic compound administration protocols.
