Dawn Scholey is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), leading poultry research under Dr. Emily Burton. She manages collaborations with commercial feed/supplement companies and academic teams.
Education:
- PhD in Poultry Feed Optimization (NTU, 2012; EPSRC-funded industrial CASE studentship with AB Agri)
- Applied Biology (First Degree)
Research Interests: Focuses on broiler nutrition, sustainable feed ingredients, and bone health, particularly repurposing bio-refinery co-products like yeast protein concentrates and silica supplements to enhance feed efficiency and skeletal development. Her work intersects animal nutrition, sustainable agriculture, and feed additive innovation.
Supervision: Advises PhD students studying poultry nutrition, including K. Griffin (rest patterns in horses) and S. Afrin (phytase efficacy in broilers).
External Engagement: Serves on the Programme Committee for the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA) UK branch Spring Meeting.
