Davide De Focatiis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Nottingham, affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering and the Composites Research Group. His research focuses on polymer, elastomer, and composites engineering, with expertise in tack testing standards (ASTM D8336-24) and constitutive modeling of polymers. He has supervised PhD students Matthew Elsmore (terpene-based polymers), Halar Memon (polymer composites), and Monika Lingemann (thermoplastic demanufacturing).
- Current Fellow of the IOM3 (2021)
- Active sabbatical visits to EPFL (2025) and Politecnico di Milano (2025)
Recent publications emphasize experimental methods in composite materials, with a notable 2024 round-robin study on prepreg tack measurement. His teaching includes Statics and Dynamics and Polymer Engineering courses.
