David Waynforth is an Associate Professor of Social Sciences at Bond University's Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine. With a PhD in Anthropology from the University of New Mexico (1999), he has held academic positions at Durham University, the University of East Anglia Medical School, and previously served as a Visiting Associate Professor at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies in Kyoto, Japan.
His research integrates biological anthropology with statistical analysis to explore how social environments—including family structures, employment security, and community dynamics—interact with physiological mechanisms to influence health outcomes. Key areas include:
- Intergenerational health impacts of extended family networks
- Work insecurity's role in long-term population health
- Evolutionary perspectives on child development
- Application of multilevel modeling and survival analysis to cohort data
Recent publications (2023–2024) demonstrate interdisciplinary methods combining machine learning with evolutionary theory. He is a member of the Statistical Society of Australia and has contributed to 32 research outputs since 1995, including 3 in 2024 alone.
