David W. Miller is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Chicago and Senior Member of the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics. He earned a BA in Physics from Chicago (2005) and PhD from Stanford University (2011).
His research focuses on fundamental particle physics using the ATLAS detector at CERN's Large Hadron Collider, specializing in jet substructure, calorimetry, and searches for new physics including axions and milli-charged particles. He directs the PUEO and RNO-G neutrino detection experiments and contributes to CMB-S4 cosmology projects.
Recent publications feature detector instrumentation advances, dark matter searches, and machine learning applications in particle physics. His work has been recognized with numerous awards including NSF CAREER, Sloan Fellowship, and Moore Foundation Investigator Award.
