David Sánchez García

David Sánchez García is a full Professor in the Department of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at IQS School of Engineering, Universitat Ramon Llull. His research focuses on functional materials for biomedical applications, particularly pyrrolic macrocycles and mesoporous silica nanoparticles for drug delivery and sensing.

He investigates pyrrolic macrocycles as functional dyes and mesoporous silica nanoparticles as nano-vehicles for targeted drug delivery and biosensing. His work integrates synthetic chemistry with nanotechnology to develop innovative solutions for cancer therapy and diagnostics.

Recent publications highlight advancements in stimuli-responsive polymers for co-delivery of chemotherapeutics and siRNA, porphycene-based photosensitizers, and antifibrinolytic triazole derivatives. His research demonstrates a strong trend toward multifunctional nanocarriers, combination therapies, and mechanistic studies of novel drug candidates, particularly in oncology and hemostasis.

He leads the GEMAT (Materials Engineering Group) and the NanoPan-3D project, funded by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación, aimed at overcoming drug resistance in pancreatic cancer using 3D tumor models and advanced nanocarriers. He has supervised doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, contributing to the training of next-generation scientists in pharmaceutical and materials research.
