David Sturgill

David Sturgill is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Computer Science at North Carolina State University, where he has served since 2011 after faculty roles at Baylor University and UNC Greensboro.

His academic background includes:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cornell University
• M.S. in Computer Science, Cornell University
• B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics, University of South Carolina

Prior to his current position, Sturgill gained industry experience at NCR Corporation and BioWare. His professional focus centers on undergraduate systems education, coordinating core courses CSC 230 (C and Software Tools) and CSC 246 (Operating Systems), while coaching competitive programming teams that meet weekly during semesters to develop student problem-solving skills.
