Dr. David Sheard is a Lecturer in Mathematics at King's College London, affiliated with the Department of Mathematics within the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences. He holds a PhD from UCL (2022) and an MMath from Durham University (2017). His research focuses on geometric group theory, Coxeter groups, and applications of group theory to machine learning. He has contributed to equivariant machine learning through fundamental domain projections.
Education:
- Doctor of Philosophy (Mathematics), UCL University College London (2017–2022)
- Master of Mathematics, Durham University (2013–2017)
Research interests include the geometry of Coxeter groups, their actions on Coxeter and Davis complexes, combinatorics of Coxeter groups, Bruhat order, Poincaré polynomials, Nielsen equivalence, and accessibility of finitely generated groups. His work bridges pure mathematics with geometric machine learning.
Publications highlight interdisciplinary applications of geometric topology to machine learning frameworks. He is part of the Geometry Group at King’s, focusing on algebraic geometry, differential geometry, and Lie groups.
