David Schmoll is a researcher in the Faculty of Physics specializing in Nanomagnetism and Magnonics. He holds BSc, BSc, and MSc degrees and is actively engaged in cutting-edge research on magnetic materials at cryogenic temperatures.
His research focuses on yttrium-iron garnet (YIG) and gadolinium-gallium garnet (GGG) systems, with particular emphasis on ferromagnetic resonance phenomena, magnonic properties, and magnetic damping effects at millikelvin temperatures. His work bridges experimental physics and materials science, exploring how substrate interactions and microstructuring affect magnetic properties.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on eliminating substrate-induced effects in magnetic measurements, understanding damping mechanisms in YIG at extremely low temperatures, and investigating wavenumber-dependent magnetic losses in heterostructures. His research has significant implications for quantum information technologies and magnonic computing applications.
David is currently involved in the active research project 'Propagating Low-Energy 4f Paramagnons' (2024-2027) and has presented his work at numerous scientific conferences, including talks on 'Enhancement of damping in YIG films at millikelvin temperatures' and 'All-electrical propagating spin-wave spectroscopy in 100nm-thin Yttrium-Iron-Garnet at millikelvin temperatures'.
