Dr. David S. Ritsema serves as Assistant Dean and Assistant Professor of New Testament at B. H. Carroll Theological Seminary. He holds a B.A. in Christian Ministry from East Texas Baptist University (ETBU), an M.Div. from George W. Truett Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in New Testament from B. H. Carroll Theological Seminary. His doctoral research explored Christology in Johannine literature.
His academic work focuses on the Gospel of John, New Testament Christology, and biblical theology, with emphasis on how scholarship influences church practices including preaching, discipleship, and mission. He has presented at international conferences including Regent’s Park (Oxford), St. Andrews Symposium (Scotland), and the Society of Biblical Literature (Berlin).
With over 25 years of pastoral experience—including leadership roles at First Baptist Church of Waxahachie (13 years) and Woodlawn Baptist Church (5 years)—he has directed congregational growth, capital campaigns, facility expansions, and ministry development. He maintains memberships in the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL), Evangelical Theological Society (ETS), and other academic associations.
