David Robbins is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Whitworth University since 2021. His expertise focuses on musculoskeletal physical therapy, biomechanics, and wearable technology applications in rehabilitation. Robbins holds a Ph.D. in Physical Rehabilitation Science from the University of Iowa, a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy from Regis University, and advanced degrees in physical therapy from Regis and Baylor Universities.
His research investigates neuromuscular plasticity post-knee trauma, biomechanical asymmetries after ACL reconstruction, and wearable sensor technologies for clinical outcomes. Notable studies include accelerometer-based gait analysis and functional outcome measures for lower extremity injuries. Robbins has presented at multiple American Physical Therapy Association conferences and published in Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy and Journal of Special Operations Medicine.
His work emphasizes translating biomechanical insights into clinical practice, particularly using cost-effective wearable devices for injury assessment and rehabilitation monitoring. Current projects explore post-operative ACL recovery metrics and sensor-based gait analysis under varying load conditions.
