معرفی
David Reser is a Senior Lecturer at Monash University, affiliated with the Graduate Entry Medicine Program within Monash Rural Health-Gippsland. He holds a combined teaching and research role, focusing on medical education and rural health. Previously, he conducted neuroscience research at the Department of Physiology, investigating the claustrum's role in sensory integration and consciousness. Since 2021, his work shifted to climate change's health impacts, particularly in rural healthcare preparedness for disasters like bushfires and floods.
Education: PhD in Neuroscience from Albert Einstein College of Medicine (2000).
Research Interests: Current work addresses climate change's health effects, rural healthcare resilience, and medical education innovation. Prior research explored the claustrum's functional connectivity and its potential role in consciousness. Notable projects include co-founding the Society for Claustrum Research and leading studies on sensory systems and cognitive neuroscience.
Awards: Chandler M. Brooks Memorial Lecture (2016) and Exceptional Academic Achievement (2023).
Advising & Grants: Involved in projects like 'Transforming pre-vocational medical training' (2021) and 'The claustrum enigma' (2014–2016). Collaborates internationally on brain imaging and climate health initiatives.
Labs/Teams: Active in Monash Rural Health and interdisciplinary groups studying climate adaptation in healthcare and neuroimaging techniques.
