David Reiner-Link is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. His research sits at the intersection of molecular pharmacology and data science, with affiliations to both the Molecular Pharmacology Group (including the Wellendorph lab and Jensen lab) and the Hauser Group. He maintains an active research program with numerous publications and collaborations across Europe.
His educational background includes a Pharmacy degree (Apotheker/Staatsexamen) from Goethe University Frankfurt (2010-2015, awarded February 2017) followed by PhD studies at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (2017-2020). He has secured significant recognition including the Early Stage Researcher Award (2020), Pharma Innovation Challenge (2024), and a Visiting Scholar Fellowship at Stanford Bio-X (2024), with an upcoming visiting position at Stanford University from 2025-2027.
Dr. Reiner-Link's research focuses on three primary conceptual approaches: precision pharmacology (deciphering links between GPCR signaling pathways and pharmacological outcomes), GPCR pharmacogenomics (studying how structural variants impact drug response), and multi-target directed ligands (identifying drugs with activity at synergistic targets). His pathophysiological focus spans neurological and psychiatric disorders including schizophrenia, depression, Parkinson's disease, sleep disorders, and Prader-Willi Syndrome. His methodological expertise combines in vitro experiments of receptor binding and cellular signaling with advanced data handling procedures including statistical learning and deep learning.
His publication record demonstrates a strong focus on GPCR-related research, particularly examining receptor binding, signaling pathways, and multi-target approaches for neurological disorders. Recent publications show increasing sophistication in combining molecular pharmacology with computational approaches, with significant contributions to understanding receptor isoforms, developing multi-target ligands for Alzheimer's disease and pain management, and advancing pharmacogenomic applications for personalized medicine.
- Early Stage Researcher (ESR) Award (July 2020)
- Pharma Innovation Challenge (November 2024)
- Visiting Scholar / Visiting Postdoc Fellowship at Stanford Bio-X (June 2024)
Dr. Reiner-Link actively mentors students and collaborates across international boundaries, with his work frequently appearing in high-impact journals. His future research direction includes expanding his work on GPCR signaling diversity and developing computational approaches to predict drug responses based on genetic variants. His upcoming visiting position at Stanford University suggests continued growth in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of pharmacology and data science.
