David R Barclay

Dr. David R Barclay is an Associate Professor at Dalhousie University's Department of Oceanography, holding the Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Ocean Technology Systems. His work focuses on underwater acoustics, ocean noise modeling, and passive acoustic monitoring of marine environments.

• Research Interests: Underwater acoustics, ocean noise characterization, marine life impact assessment, hydroacoustic communication systems, ocean technology development, and environmental policy applications.

• Supervised Students: Mentored numerous graduate and undergraduate students in projects related to acoustic monitoring, hydroacoustic communication, and marine environmental modeling, including completed MSc and PhD theses on Arctic whale noise impacts, hydrothermal vent monitoring, and turbulent channel noise mitigation.

• Awards: Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Ocean Technology Systems.
