David Perez Del Rey

David Perez Del Rey is an Associate Professor at the Department of Artificial Intelligence, School of Computer Engineering, Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). He holds a PhD in Computer Science from UPM and has conducted research visits at Rutgers University (USA), University of Utah (USA), and PHILIPS Research Europe (Netherlands). Since 2003, he has been a key member of the Biomedical Informatics Group.

Research Focus: His work centers on clinical research informatics with specialization in:

• Biomedical data interoperability standards and terminology systems
• Clinical database integration and preprocessing pipelines
• Knowledge discovery in biomedical datasets
• Information retrieval systems for healthcare data
• Real-world evidence generation from clinical data

Major Projects: Significant contributions to EU initiatives including:

• INTEGRATE (integrative cancer research)
• EURECA (clinical research-care data linkage)
• InSite Platform (clinical research acceleration using real-world data)

Teaching: Currently instructs courses in:
